QUESTION No.5 - SUNDAY MAY 30, 2026
Q. Can We Truly Come to Know God?
How does anyone come to KNOW an omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent thing?
A spirit-being said to exist both before AND after time? The Creator of all things seen and unseen.
I’ll be the first to admit, I have no idea.
"I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death."
- Philippians 3:10 (NIV)
But one thing I know is…
I knew OF Him. And I knew ABOUT Him. But I didn’t KNOW Him in the least.
I didn’t know Him because I wasn’t ready to know Him. I wanted Him to know me and LOVE me without the hassle of me getting to know Him.
I soon realized I was farther from knowing Him than I thought. Farther from learning how to LOVE Him than I had hoped.
NOTE ON THE WORD: Before the New Testament, the term agape (“LOVE”) existed but was rarely used. Early Christians transformed the word “agape” into the supreme term for divine, unselfish love - seeking the highest good regardless of response.
To LOVE God, we must first come to KNOW God.
God may be infinite, but He is not inaccessible.
God may be beyond understanding, but He is not unknowable.
"The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork"
- Psalm 19:1 (KJV)
We don’t figure God out. God makes Himself KNOWN.
And thankfully He gifted us a means to reveal Himself. Not a handbook or textbook, but a glorious tome of mystic poetry.
Like Him, His book is not inaccessible or unknowable. It simply requires patience, perseverance, openness, humility, and a soft heart to receive what is being revealed.
In His book, God is quite real. He speaks, calls, appears, acts, judges, saves, covenants, creates, destroys, delivers, teaches, and finally enters the world in visible form, miraculously, as His own Son - Jesus Christ. God willingly entered the world in a personal and knowable way.
“…that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”
- John 17:3 (KJV)
